At around 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 24, Glen Simmons was walking near the intersection of Patrick Henry Drive and Arlington Boulevard in Seven Corners when he was struck by the driver of a Kia Forte.

Investigators say that Simmons was in the southbound lanes, not in a crosswalk, when he was hit by the Kia traveling south on Patrick Henry Drive.

Simmons was treated and taken to the hospital "in non-life-threatening condition," though on Sunday, Oct. 13, he was pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the crash.

Alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors for the driver and are under investigation for the pedestrian, police said. The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation weeks later.
